Kim finished her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley. She worked in Jack Dixon's lab at UC San Diego, characterizing secreted kinases before moving to the other coast. Kim received her PhD from MIT working in the lab of Stefani Spranger. Her thesis work focused on investigating the impact of intratumoral heterogeneity on anti-tumor immunity.

Kim has too many hobbies and not enough time to get good at any of them.
